Music troubleshooting

Common issues with Navidrome and how to fix them.

Your Navidrome instance sleeps when you haven't used it for a while. It wakes up automatically when you visit it, but the first load can take 10–30 seconds. If it's been over a minute, try refreshing.

On the Terrarium dashboard, you can see whether your app is running (green dot), sleeping (gray dot), or starting up (yellow dot).

I uploaded music but nothing shows up in Navidrome

If you uploaded with Analyze with beets checked, your files need to be processed first. Look at the Files tab on your dashboard — if you see "Processing with beets..." the organizer is still working. This typically takes a few seconds per album.

If processing seems stuck (more than 5 minutes), the files might have unusual tags that beets couldn't identify. Try uploading again with the beets checkbox unchecked — files will go directly into the library.

After files land in library/, Navidrome needs to scan them. This usually happens within a minute. You can also trigger a manual scan from Navidrome's admin panel (Settings → Scan).

Cover art is missing

Beets fetches cover art automatically from MusicBrainz and other sources, but it doesn't always find a match — especially for obscure albums or bootlegs. You can add cover art manually through Navidrome's web interface.

Phone app says "Connection failed"

  • Make sure your Navidrome URL is correct: https://{your-username}-navidrome.getterrarium.app
  • Check that Navidrome is awake — visit the URL in your browser first
  • Verify you're using your Navidrome credentials (not your Terrarium login). These are the username and password you created when you first opened Navidrome.

Songs play but there's no sound

Check your device volume and make sure the browser tab isn't muted (look for a speaker icon in the tab bar). In Symfonium or other phone apps, check that the media volume (not ringer volume) is up.
