Upload your first album

Add music to your Navidrome library from the Terrarium dashboard. Beets automatically tags, organizes, and fetches cover art.

You just installed Navidrome — nice! It's empty right now, so let's get some music in there.

How to upload

  1. Go to your Terrarium dashboard and click the Files tab
  2. Under My Music, drag files onto the drop zone — or click it to browse
  3. Leave the Analyze with beets checkbox on (it's on by default)
  4. Wait for the upload to finish — you'll see per-file progress and speed

That's it. After the upload completes, you'll see "Processing with beets..." while your files are being tagged and organized. This usually takes a few seconds per album.

What beets does

When the checkbox is on, your files go through beets, which:

  • Identifies tracks using audio fingerprinting (via MusicBrainz)
  • Corrects artist, album, and track names
  • Downloads cover art
  • Organizes files into Artist/Album/ folders inside your library

When it's done, your files appear in the tree under library/. Navidrome picks them up automatically — open your music app and they'll be there.

Skipping beets

If your files are already well-tagged (e.g., from a CD ripper or another music manager), uncheck Analyze with beets. Files go directly into library/ without processing, preserving your existing tags and folder structure.

Supported formats

Navidrome plays MP3, FLAC, AAC (M4A), OGG Vorbis, Opus, WMA, and WAV. Upload whatever you have — no conversion needed.

Storage

Music files add up. A typical album is 80–150 MB for MP3, or 300–500 MB for FLAC. You can see how much storage you're using on the Files tab.
