Uninstall an app, and get it back

Uninstalling keeps the app's data for 30 days. Reinstall within that time and you can pick up where you left off.

Uninstalling an app doesn't delete it straight away. Terrarium switches the app off and keeps everything stored in it for 30 days. If you install the same app again in that time, you can restore it exactly as you left it.

Only the account holder can uninstall or restore apps. Household members don't see these options.

Uninstall an app

Open the menu on the app's card and choose Uninstall. Terrarium asks you to confirm, and then the card disappears from your dashboard.

Your music and audiobooks are not part of the app. They live in your shared storage, so they stay where they are, and they're still there when you install a music or audiobook app again.

An app you never finished setting up is removed outright, with nothing to keep. Terrarium asks Remove rather than Uninstall for these.

Get it back

Install the app again from the catalog. If you uninstalled it in the last 30 days, Terrarium asks whether to restore your data or start fresh, and lists each saved copy with the date you uninstalled it and its size.

  • Restore brings the app back with everything it had: your settings, your accounts in it, your recipes or notes or budget.
  • Start fresh sets up a new, empty copy. The saved copies are kept, and they still disappear 30 days after you uninstalled them.

After 30 days

A saved copy is deleted for good 30 days after you uninstall the app. We can't recover it after that.

Two saved copies per app

Terrarium keeps at most two saved copies of each app. If you already have two and uninstall the app a third time, Terrarium asks you to delete one of them first. Deleting a saved copy is permanent, so choose the one you won't want back, usually the older one.
