Read your feeds on your phone

Set an API password in FreshRSS, then connect Capy Reader on Android or NetNewsWire on iPhone.

Phone apps sign in to FreshRSS with an API password. It's separate from your Terrarium password, and FreshRSS doesn't have one for you until you set it. Everyone in a household sets their own.

Set your API password

  1. Open FreshRSS from its card on your dashboard.
  2. Press the gear icon at the top right and choose Profile.
  3. Under External access via API, type a password into API password.
  4. Press Submit in that section. FreshRSS says "Your password has been modified".

If you forget it, set a new one the same way.

Your sign-in details

  • Server address: https://{username}-freshrss.getterrarium.app/api/greader.php
  • Username: your Terrarium username
  • API password: the one you just set

In a household, the server address carries the account holder's username, and the username is your own.

Android — Capy Reader

  1. Install Capy Reader from the Play Store and open it.
  2. Under Add Account, choose FreshRSS.
  3. Paste your server address into Server, then fill in Username and API Password.
  4. Tap Log In.

iPhone — NetNewsWire

  1. Install NetNewsWire from the App Store and open it.
  2. In its settings, under Accounts, add an account and choose FreshRSS.
  3. Enter your server address, username and API password.

Articles you read or star in the app show up the same way in FreshRSS on the web.
